Elite Sports Programme (ESP)
As part of the ongoing development of sport here at Harrow Shanghai, we are excited to offer you and your children an enhanced range of elite and advanced coaching for those pupils who are interested in developing their skills and interests in specific areas.
This year we have added badminton to the ESP, with Cyclone Badminton joining our team. Cyclone is run by Mr Cai Yun, a former professional badminton player who represented China and won a Gold medal in the London 2012 Olympic Games. We are very fortunate to have access to this level of expertise and this is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to work with such high level coaches.
Our new basketball academy was also introduced to the ESP this year in partnership with Riptide Basketball. Riptide are an established company with highly experienced and professional coaches. This is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to develop their skills and I am confident it will benefit our competitive teams in the future.
Fencing is one of the most traditional and quintessential pubic school sports in the UK. For pupils in Years 2 to 5 we are excited to be able to offer a lunch time session with Wang Lei Fencing.
Football is continuing to be coached at Harrow by the incredible team at Ebbe Sand Soccer Academy (ESSA). Sessions are available after school for pupils in Year 1 to Year 13 and groups are selected based on age and ability. We also offer a lunch time session which enables all of our pupils to access this high level of coaching.
There has been a great deal of demand for competitive swim training, and as a result, the H20 swimming academy are now offering sessions for our high performing swimmers. These sessions are designed to stretch are swimmers and help prepare them for competitive swim meets.
Taekwando has become increasingly popular here at Harrow and we are delighted to continue our partnership with the outstanding coaches at Blackbelt Kid. These sessions aim to make children feel good about themselves, whilst demonstrating physical and mental control.
Here at Harrow, Tennis will continue to be coached by the inspirational coaches from CETA Tennis. Short tennis is currently available for our younger pupils, and we will be expanding the programme in Term 3 for our older pupils.
Early Years Sports Development Programme (EYSDP)
These sessions aim to develop the pupils all-round sporting ability, with an emphasis on activity, basic skills, balance, agility and hand/eye coordination. These sessions are led by our CETA coaches.
We are pleased to offer swimming on a Tuesday and Thursday to some of our Early Years children. These sessions will be taken by our CETA swimming coach and supported by several Harrow staff members. Please note that places are limited due to safety in the pool being our paramount concern.
If you have any questions or would like to register your child for one of ESP programmes, please contact Mr Willis (firstname.lastname@example.org).
