How can IGCSE lay a solid foundation for A-Level?
IGCSE is the crucial step that carries Harrow Shanghai students from the British National Curriculum to A-Level + EPQ. It is not only a “transfer station” in the curriculum — it is the foundation for academic ability, study habits, and ways of thinking.
The picture below clearly traces the journey from Year 6–9 into IGCSE (Year 10–11) and onwards to A-Level + EPQ (Year 12–13). At every stage of this path through Upper School, each stop powers the next.

Our iGCSE results are a wonderful reflection of the ambition, dedication and resilience of our pupils, and I am immensely proud of every one of them. We have seen some exceptional individual achievements, including 100% A*/A in Early Entry Mathematics, a 100% pass rate, 75% A*/A in History, and 60% A*/A in both Music and Biology.
These results are testament to the individualised attention our pupils receive, supported by a high-calibre teaching team committed to knowing each learner and helping them fulfil their potential. They also build on our outstanding A Level results last week, when 72% of grades were awarded at A*/A.
