Why Join Us?
Demo Class, Immersive Learning Experience
At previous Open Days, you may have experienced the school mainly by looking into the classrooms. This time, we invite your child to step inside, take a seat, and become a “Harrow pupil”. Our newly upgraded immersive Demo Class will be led by experienced Harrow Shanghai teachers, bringing an authentic British classroom to life. From the moment a child steps into the classroom, they are no longer a visitor — they become the protagonist of the lesson.
This experience is open to all registered families, giving children the opportunity to take part in English, Science and other lessons. In the English class, children will express themselves and engage in interactive activities in an immersive language environment; in the science class, they will get hands-on, ask questions boldly, and discover that “this is how learning can happen.”
For parents, this is also a valuable opportunity to observe your child in a real classroom setting — to see how a question from the teacher sparks their curiosity, and how encouragement gives them the confidence to raise their hand.
At Harrow Shanghai, we often say “Learn through play, and find joy in learning.” And perhaps the best expression of this is the spark in a child’s eyes when their curiosity is ignited in the classroom. Data is the most powerful proof. In the recently released 2026 A-Level results, Harrow Shanghai pupils once again achieved outstanding results: 72% of grades were awarded A*/A; Mathematics, Economics and Chinese achieved an impressive 100% A*/A; and 44% of pupils achieved A*/A in all their subjects. Since its founding in 2016, Harrow Shanghai has spent ten years building excellence in A-Level education, establishing itself as a leading school among international schools in Shanghai.
In terms of university destinations, the Class of 2026 has also achieved outstanding results — securing offers from all three leading universities in Hong Kong: The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST); nearly 50% of pupils received offers from University College London (UCL); and 50% pursued Humanities and Social Sciences, while 50% chose STEM.
From Medicine, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Biochemistry and Life Sciences, to Politics and International Relations, English Literature, Law and Economics — a diverse range of offers from world-leading universities reflects the excellence and breadth of Harrow pupils.
✨Reason 2: Outstanding Teachers | Meet Dr Reilly
A school’s strength is defined by the calibre of its teachers. This term, another distinguished educator has joined Harrow Shanghai: Dr Jack Reilly, a senior academic university counsellor.
He holds a BA, research-based Master’s degree and PhD in Political Philosophy, with his undergraduate studies in Politics and Eastern European Studies at UCL. Before joining Harrow Shanghai, Dr Reilly served as Director of University Admissions at Highgate School, one of the UK’s leading independent schools and named the “Independent School of the Decade” by The Sunday Times. During his tenure, around 30 pupils each year successfully gained admission to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, while more than 80% of A-Level grades were awarded A*/A.
Behind this impressive track record in university admissions lies Dr Reilly’s enduring belief: “Before presenting yourself, truly understand yourself.” In his view, effective university guidance does not begin during application season. It is a journey of growth that spans the entire senior school years — helping pupils develop self-awareness, nurture academic curiosity, and discover their own path through long-term exploration.
And this is a reflection of Harrow Shanghai’s teaching team as a whole: from Oxford-educated Chemistry teachers to a Mathematics team that rejects “teaching to the test”, from internationally experienced educators to passionate teaching professionals — a team of educators who truly understand the meaning of education, laying a strong foundation for every Harrow pupil’s future.
