Yi Sum, graduated in 2023

Yi Sum is now at the University of Cambridge studying Veterinary Medicine.

I joined Harrow for the Sixth Form, knowing their reputation for academic excellence and admiring their values of Courage, Fellowship, Humility, and Honour. My ambition was to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine which, thanks to the excellent support I achieved from my A Level teachers, the advice of my university counsellor, and the extra-curricular and leadership opportunities I was given, I was able to achieve. I’m on my way to becoming a vet, studying at the University of Cambridge, and I’m grateful for the role that Harrow Shanghai played in my journey.

At Harrow, I was encouraged to take on new challenges and push myself outside my comfort zone. I was given the freedom to set up my own ECA, ‘Tales for Tails’, which helped me to further indulge my interest in animal welfare. In addition to performing in the chamber choir and orchestra, I was also appointed as Head Student, which gave me the chance to contribute to a number of whole-school initiatives, build my confidence, and work with my fellow students to promote the values-based education that Harrow is known for.
