Elaine, graduated in 2025

Elaine is now at the University of Cambridge studying Natural Sciences.

The opportunities at Harrow Shanghai have enabled me to pursue my dream of studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge, driven by a deep fascination with the microscopic world and a desire to understand life through scientific principles. The school’s support has been instrumental at every stage of this journey. My teachers went far beyond the syllabus, offering extra sessions to explore chemical reactions in greater depth and guiding me through independent research into topics like signalling cascades and pathogenesis. When I expressed interest in attending the Chemistry and Biology Olympiads, the school provided dedicated mentoring and access to advanced problem sets alongside my A-Level studies. This encouragement gave me the confidence to approach complex scientific questions with genuine curiosity.

Beyond the classroom, Harrow’s commitment to individual growth meant that my interests were never confined to a prescribed curriculum. Equally important has been the pastoral care I received. The school counsellor was a steady and compassionate presence, helping me navigate challenges that at times felt overwhelming. This support made it possible for me to regain my confidence and continue pursuing my academic goals without losing sight of my well-being. I carry forward not only a strong scientific foundation but also the enduring friendships and resilience that Harrow helped me build, which continue to shape who I am today.
