I joined Harrow Shanghai in 2017, the year it was founded, as a Year 5 pupil. Back then the corridors were near silent, and our class was the size of a small friend group. Nine years later, hearing those same hallways filled with sounds of chatter and laughter, I realise how much the school has flourished into a community of bright-eyed individuals. In a way, I feel that my personal development closely mirrors the school’s: the nurture and care I have received from being part of the Harrow community allowed me to blossom into a more confident and passionate person.

Studying at Harrow gave me countless opportunities and lovely memories. I was encouraged to take on new challenges, from speaking at TEDx conferences and travelling overseas, to playing first chair cello with the school orchestra at the Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall. Leadership taught me the importance of courage in personal growth, and my time as Deputy Head Student gave me the chance to give back to the community that had watched me grow, and to champion pride in our Harrow values and traditions. The education I received made me a better thinker, and I will always remember the teachers who shaped me, as well as the close support they offered whenever I was going through a rough patch.

I am now studying Politics and International Relations at the LSE, and I am deeply grateful for the role Harrow Shanghai has played in my journey. It has seen me through every stage of growing up, and it made me who I am today.
